Franky Carbone
Plywood and metal bolts. Concerned with the power of a single geometric shape, Carbone’s design revolves around the triangle. The main structure is essentially three triangles, forming the base, the seat, and the backrest. Smaller triangles were cut out of the wood in order to add a level of depth and intricacy to the traingularity of the work: new triangles are formed visually as one views the chair from various angles on its profile.

Another element at play here is the piece’s ability to mask its intricacy. When viewed from the front or back, the overwhelming triangularity recedes as the internal spaces fall flush with the structure. A much calmer experience.
